A to Z Blogging Challenge

A is for...All About "Home is Where the Mom Is"

by Shelly Burke, RN, Author and Publisher of the "Nebraska Family Times"

Being a mom is my favorite role in life. My kids are now grown (Cody is 23 and lives in the Kansas City area and Morgan is 21 and is going to college in Colorado) and I find joy in the memories of their growing-up years AND I love knowing and seeing and still being "mom" to them as adults (in fact, I'm putting Easter baskets together for them!)

Another role that I love is that of "author". I've wanted to be a writer since I was a little girl, and you
can click below to read about the experiences and years that brought "Home is Where the Mom Is; A Christian Mom's Guide to Caring for Herself, Her Family, and Her Home" into being.

  1. Yours is the first blog I've clicked on in the massive A-Z list, and it makes me smile to find that you and I have chosen a very similar theme for the challenge. I look forward to reading your "hacks". I'm still in the thick of raising kids, and I'm always looking for more ideas!

    1. Thank you Christine! I'll be checking out your blog as soon as I finish this reply. :-) Being a mom is definitely the best "job" ever, isn't it?

  2. Love that you still make Easter baskets for them!

  3. I like your approach to Letter A for the challenge, introducing yourself with briefings on how and why you became an author. Having adult children in college, I imagine that it allows more time for you to do the writing that you enjoy.

Luv that Bayon Temple photo you posted from your travels around Angkor Wat. I've heard of that place and wondered about traveling to Cambodia...what it's like there. Earlier today I read a news story about a woman who celebrated her 30th birthday with an "ex-travel-ganza" going to Mexico alone and then to Miami to visit her family. In the article she says while it's enjoyable traveling in the company of others, she also enjoys the freedom that traveling alone brings.

The closest I've been to Cambodia is my classmates and the folks in the neighborhood I grew up in. These days, I visit the place by watching YouTube vlogs and living vicariously through a man who has documented his adventures there.
